Social Ministry encompasses the ways Messiah members reach out to our neighbors, our community and the rest of the world to share the love of Jesus. Since it has many facets, members can find the ministry that touches their heart and devote their energies and efforts in that direction. Current active ministries include:
Crosslines – Volunteers help distribute food one day a month to those in need.
Messiah House – A partnership with Safe to Sleep whereby we provide housing and life mentoring to women who wish to leave behind homelessness and become productive members of our community.
Holland School – We provide multiple aspects of support for our neighborhood elementary school, including funding for shoes for the children, providing support help during various activities and providing luncheons for teacher and staff appreciation.
Piecemakers and Lutheran World Relief – These provide sewn and tied quilts to local organizations and worldwide. Additionally, they make cloth diapers, assemble baby care kits and school supply backpacks which are distributed throughout the world.
Knitting and Crocheting – We create baby blankets for newborns and prayer shawls to be provided whenever needed.
Recently, we created a Ukrainian refugee ministry whereby we supply housing and assistance with transitioning to a new country and culture for a Ukrainian refugee family. This is in partnership with Bread of Life Slavic Church in Rogersville, Mo.
