Pastor Orin was born and grew up in a Lutheran home in Guyana, South America. He has many siblings several of whom reside in Guyana. He was ordained in 1988 and has recently served Lutheran and Episcopal congregations in the greater Kansas City area of Missouri. He has an earned doctorate from Luther Seminary in Saint Paul, Minnesota and is an adjunct instructor at Wartburg Seminary.
Pastor enjoys singing. He was a member of the Kansas City Metro Men’s Chorus for several years and since moving to Springfield has joined Springfield Mid-America Singers. He is part of a talented quartet of nice blokes who sing for pure joy of praising God at Messiah.
Pastor is married to Samantha, a Social Worker by profession, and they have two teenage boys in high school. Apart from spending quality time with his family, he enjoys suspense, thriller, drama and action movies, meeting people, listening to a wide variety of music, keeping up with current affairs, reading, documentaries, and watching soccer and cricket.
He loves God and best shows it by caring for children, youth, young adults, adults and seniors. He enjoys teaching and preaching the Word of God with simplicity and for growing relationship with Jesus Christ. He is keen to help Messiah live out its mission in the community since the church is called to be faithful in spreading the Gospel by any means possible.
He is keen to encourage all to be creative in spreading the Gospel, especially in this modern era. If you have ideas of ways to do so, he is a willingly listener.
